If you want to refresh your existing creatives, or you have generated the preview for your newly imported creative, but need to make further changes to the template.
There are two scenarios that this article will cover.
Scenario 1
If you want to make any changes to creatives that you have successfully imported to Properti (could be for small aesthetic changes, a complete re-design or moving elements to different locations on the design), this can be achieved by following the below steps.
- Go into the published brand template in Canva that you wish to make changes to. If you need to add new data autofill fields or you have missed adding a data autofill box to any layers, you can update this easily.
- Click the "Data Autofill" button in Canva's left-hand menu, select the newly added or missed layer, and assign a label to the data autofill box. You'll find the data autofill labelling options in the toolbar, alongside the text, font size, and colour settings.
- Click on a layer, then click the Data Field as seen on the toolbar.
- Click on "+ Add new"
- Type in the name of the layer and click on "Add"
- Follow these same steps for any newly added layers
- 🚨 Ensure to collapse the Data Autofill app in the side menu (just by clicking on it so it collapses) before returning to Properti.

. - Return to Properti and Create New Template
- Underneath the template that you have made changes to, click on Import to Properti
- Go through the prompts until you get to the screen where you will see ⚠️ icons next to the newly imported fields.
- Complete the mapping by selecting the relevant function for each newly imported field.
- Continue through the next screens until you get to where you select a listing to generate your preview of the newly updated creative.
- If everything looks as required, you can complete the import and the new changes are now applied to the template.
Scenario 2
If you are importing a new design and have got to the part where you preview the design on one of your listings and find that there's either:
a) Data autofill fields aren't complete
b) Design changes need to be made to sizes of text boxes, colours, fonts etc.
You can follow the same above steps 1-13 to make the edits to the template.
