Duplicate Facebook Posts from Automations
In some cases, you may notice duplicate Facebook posts created from a single automation in Properti.AI. This can happen due to how Facebook responds after a post is published, and does not mean the automation has run multiple times.
What’s happening?
Here’s the most common cause:
- Properti successfully publishes your post to Facebook
- Facebook incorrectly returns an error response, even though the post has already been published
- The system interprets this as a failed post
- It automatically retries the post to ensure nothing is missed
- This can sometimes result in duplicate posts appearing on your page
Why this happens
This is caused by inconsistent responses from Facebook’s system. In rare cases, Facebook reports a failure even when the post has already been successfully published.
What we’ve done to fix it
We’ve improved how Properti handles these responses by:
- Identifying this specific Facebook error behaviour
- Preventing unnecessary retry attempts when the post has already been successfully published
- Reducing the likelihood of duplicate posts occurring
What you should do
If you notice duplicate posts:
- Check if the automation was only triggered once (it usually is)
- You can safely remove the duplicate post directly on Facebook if needed
- If it continues to happen frequently, please contact support so we can investigate
Summary
This issue is caused by Facebook incorrectly reporting a failed post, which can lead to retries and duplicate posts. We’ve implemented improvements to reduce the chance of this happening again.
