â Feed & Reels Support
User Tags (on the image or video content) are supported via the Instagram API and should show on Feed and Reels posts.
If user tags arenât visible, it's likely a one-off issue with that particular post â not a platform-wide bug.
đ Important: If a post errors when tagging users or adding collaborators, double-check that the Instagram usernames are correct and up to date. Errors can easily occur if a user recently changed their handle.
Collaborator Tags require the tagged user to manually accept the invite within their Instagram app before appearing.
This is expected Instagram behaviour, not a Properti or system limitation.
@Mentions in Captions (e.g. âVideo by @nira.creativeâ) should work consistently.
If not visible, this is likely a post-specific anomaly â not something caused by the platform or Automations.
â Stories Limitations
Instagram does not currently allow user tagging or collaborators in Stories via any third-party platform.
@Mentions in captions of Stories (added manually via Instagram) work as expected but cannot be automated via Properti.
â FAQs
Q: Why didnât the user tag show up?
A: This may be a one-off issue with the post itself. Tagging is supported on Feed/Reels, and weâve seen it work in most cases.
Q: Why doesnât the collaborator show as tagged?
A: Theyâll only appear once they accept the invite manually via their Instagram app. This is how Instagramâs system is designed.
Q: My @mentions arenât showing in the caption â is that normal?
A: No, mentions in captions generally work. If they didnât appear, itâs likely a post-specific bug â not something platform-wide or consistent.
Q: Will user tagging in Stories be supported later on?
A: Once Instagram updates their API to allow tagging in Stories, we plan to enable it on Properti.

đĄ Best Practices & Recommendations
Use correct, public Instagram handles when tagging or mentioning.
If tags donât show, try tagging users manually after posting.
Remind collaborators to accept the tag in their app so it appears publicly.
Use @mentions in captions when possible â theyâre the most consistent and visible tag type.
Stories tagging via automation is not yet available due to Instagram API limitations.
đ Always verify usernames when tagging or adding collaborators. If the tagged account has recently changed its handle, the tag or collaborator request may fail.
â ď¸ Troubleshooting Checklist
If your post errors when tagging users or adding collaborators:
â Check the Instagram username â make sure it hasnât changed or been misspelled.
â Confirm the account is public (private accounts may limit visibility).
â For collaborators, ensure the user has accepted the invite inside their Instagram app.
â Retry the post â sometimes issues are one-off errors tied to the post itself.
â If the issue continues, try tagging manually after posting via Instagram.
