How to Create a Facebook Business Page, Instagram Business Account & Connect Them to Your Meta Business Portfolio

This guide walks you through everything required to correctly set up your Facebook Business Page, create and convert an Instagram Business Account, link the two platforms together, and connect both to your Meta Business Portfolio (Business Manager). 

This setup ensures full control of your business assets and seamless integration with Properti, especially for posting, automations, ads, and brand management.


1. Create a Facebook Business Page

Follow these steps to create a properly configured Facebook Business Page.

Step 1: Log In to Facebook

Use your personal Facebook profile. This does not make your profile visible publicly.

Step 2: Create Your Page

  1. Go to Pages in the left-hand menu.

  2. Select Create New Page.

  3. Enter the following:

    • Page Name (e.g. LJ Hooker Gladstone | Property Management)

    • Category (e.g. Real Estate Agency, Real Estate Service)

    • Bio (Short intro about your agency or services)

 

Pro Tip:
Use consistent naming across all business assets to avoid connection issues later.


Step 3: Add Your Branding

Upload branded visuals:

  • Profile Picture – usually your agency logo or franchise-approved version

  • Cover Image – branded banner, office photo, or campaign graphic

Add key business information:

  • Address

  • Phone number

  • Website

  • Opening hours

  • Email

Step 4: Add an Action Button

Choose an action that suits your business:

Step 5: Assign Page Admins

Go to Settings → Page Roles.
Add key staff with appropriate permissions.

Important:
Only assign Admin access to trusted team members. Admin access provides full control, including removing other admins.


2. Create an Instagram Business Account

Instagram must be a Business Account (not Creator) for scheduling, insights, ads, or Properti integrations.

Step 1: Download and Log In

Install the Instagram app and sign in or create a new account using your business email where possible.


Step 2: Convert to a Professional Business Account

  1. Go to Profile

  2. Tap Menu (≡)

  3. Tap Settings

  4. Select Account

  5. Tap Switch to Professional Account → choose Business

Step 3: Complete Your Business Profile

Add:

  • Business name

Only the Page Owner can add the Page.

5. Optional: Verify Everything Is Connected Correctly

In Meta Business Suite, check the following:

Go to:
All Tools → Business Settings → Accounts

You should see:

  • Your Facebook Page (under Pages)

  • Your Instagram Business Account (under Instagram Accounts)

  • A confirmed connection under Accounts Centre

Everything should show as “Connected”.


6. Troubleshooting & Common Issues

Instagram Not Connecting?

  • Ensure it is a Business account, not a Creator account

  • Ensure you are the primary admin of the Facebook Page

  • Confirm the Facebook Page is not owned by someone else's Business Manager

  • Log out of all Facebook/Meta accounts and reconnect


Can’t Add Facebook Page to Business Manager?

  • You must be the Page Owner, not just an admin

  • Check Page Settings → Page Roles → Page Owner

  • If the Page is owned by a former staff member, that person must transfer ownership

  • If a franchise/group owns the Page, request access instead of adding


Instagram Still Not Appearing in Ads Manager?

  • Confirm it is linked to the Facebook Page

  • Check Business Settings → Instagram Accounts

  • Ensure permissions were granted

  • Reconnect through Accounts Centre


Cross-posting Not Working?

  • Check Accounts Centre → Sharing & Logging In

  • Ensure the Facebook Page selected is the correct one

  • Ensure the Instagram account is not connected to another Business Manager


Properti Cannot Detect the Social Accounts?

Check:

  • Instagram is a Business Account, not Creator

  • Facebook Page and Instagram account are connected in both places:

    • Facebook Page settings

    • Accounts Centre

  • Both assets are inside your Meta Business Portfolio

  • You have Admin or Editor permissions
